One way copyright can be used to enact cultural erasure. The Jemima Code by Toni Tipton-Martin

An individual recipe is NOT protected by copyright. A cookbook usually is.
I was always taught that the instructions for the recipe are. Clearly, there are a lot of claims about recipes out there.
Just did a bit more research. It looks like additional writing along with the formula and basic instructions is needed. Well, a whole lot of reference info for cookbook writers that I've seen is incorrect or incomplete (in terms of how much extra writing is necessary to make a recipe unique). Unless, of course, by instructions they meant the more expansive writing that can make the recipe unique. Regardless, this book is interesting.
