Another quick poll: Was Go-Go Music ever super popular nationwide? I guess, around the mid-to-late 90s, I remember hearing Go-Go on the radio all the time (when I would change the station to hip-hop/R&B), but it didn't occur to me until recently that that might have been a semi-local thing, since Go-Go was invented in DC.
Never heard of it. ‎· Meg Vmeg
I think Chuck Brown had some national acclaim. And EU with "Da Butt" from "Doin The Right Thing. I think Go Go had a big influence on 90's hip hop with groups like Heavy D & The Boyz, Naughty By Nature, Guy, P. E., and with artists like Teddy Riley. You can hear it's influence within all these acts and many others. But I can't remember a break out act beyond the 2 I already mentioned. ‎· MoTO Babycakes
i seem to remember that Slim Charles from The Wire was a Go Go artist, which is the first and only time I've heard if it. ‎· Sarah G.

Trouble Funk played an outdoor concert at my college in Connecticut when I was there in 1985 or 1986. ‎· Stephen Francoeur
