Dracula Untold (2014) Directed by Gary Shore. With Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon, Art Parkinson. As his kingdom is being threatened by the Turks, young prince Vlad Tepes must become a monster feared by his own people in order to obtain the power needed to protect his own family, and the families of his kingdom. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0829150/
I watched this tonight. The first thing to note is that Luke Evans is super hot. Beyond that, I remembered that when I first saw "Bram Stoker's Dracula" with Keanu (whuuut?) I thought 'yeah, I'd watch a movie of the Dracula origin story!' This was not the best movie, not by a long shot, but it was pretty entertaining. It fell a little short of potential, but Tywin Lannister as the master vampire and Rickon Stark as Vlad's son was a nice touch. By the end of the movie, I was thinking 'Yeah, I'd watch a sequel to this movie set in 21st century London..." Worth a watch, all in all.· Bren
barely watchable is how I remember it, not the best dracula, specially in comparison to Gary Oldman and that movie as a whole.· SaeedTheGiraffe ?
I liked it a lot. Evans was awesome. and yea I'd also watch the sequel. though Gary Oldman is incomparable, Lannister is also damned good· Myri∂m
"Barely watchable" is probably a bit strong. Luke Evans is no Gary Oldman, agreed. He's much better looking, though. :)· Bren
We came out looking worse than the vamps! :-/· Halil

We sat and watched Saltstraumen ebb and flow on TV for quite a while this spring. We had fun with it for a while, but we didn't watch it all. Haven't seen any of the other ones.· Eivind
Sigur Rós recently live broadcasted a 24 hour drive on Iceland's Route One: https://mokum.place/app103/679515 I wish it was something that was archived in full, and could be watched whenever one wished to view it. If you missed it, the best you will be able to do is view a time lapse of the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vBIvIDbERo· April ᛃ
I've seen a couple of "Blue Lives Matter" products for sale: tee shirts, flags, etc, where one stripe on the American flag is blue. Why are flag fetishists not enraged by this defacing of the flag? ... On a related note, I'm thinking of having flags made with all of the white stripes blacked out, and donating the profits from their sale to BLM, NAACP, SURJ, and ACLU.

This group was started by the parents of one of the best people I've ever known, one of my best friends from my youth. They were heroes to me as a young teenager for their compassion, energy, and dedication to the notion that poor people should not suffer and die in silence so that rich people can be saved from the discomfort of acknowledging the reality of poverty and injustice. 30-some years later, they keep helping, and keep being my heroes.· Bren

I've nearly been lost in the rabbit hole of fat cap up v. fat cap down vis-à-vis smoking a brisket... I'm a fat cap up kind of guy, but I'm interested to hear if anyone else goes fat cap down and why...
I feel like this is a different version of the stacking firewood bark side up or down debate :D· Jennifer D.
(If you like how your brisket turns out, you're probably doing it right, either way. I've had good versions of both, but I haven't been the cook.)· Jennifer D.
I love how my brisket turns out, but I've never done it fat-cap down. I'm curious if anyone around here does it that way, and whether they've compared and chosen that way, and why? I'd rather not experiment with 5 lbs of brisket! :)· Bren
i do fat cap up so it crisps up nicely. if it's tucked under it just melts away.· orgmonkey
