More shaded than the headline would have you think. It's the story of a book that was written by a woman who joined the BDM when she was in her teens, despite being friends with a Jew. She later spied on that school friend's family. After the war, after her jail time, she started writing letters to that old school friend to explain how she felt and what she'd done and, I guess, ask forgiveness. This article talks about the place of that book in studies of that period. Further, the writer of this article tracks down the Jewish friend that many thought was just a construct.
