I have a work MacBook Pro (mid 2010) and a home PC. The home PC has a dual monitor setup. I'd like to use with my work laptop. However, I don't need to control both systems with one keyboard/mouse. I just want to swap the video back and forth from my monitors, which are old and have only one DVI input. While converting the Mac video to DVI from mini DisplayPort should be easy, I'm still having trouble finding an inexpensive dual video switching solution that's ONLY video.
Something like this? https://smile.amazon.com/Manual-Switcher-Selector-Monitor-1920X1080/dp/B07489JJHF/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1510062848&sr=8-3&keywords=dvi+switcher· Mr. Noodle
Also, does having a switcher that *allows* you to include keyboard/mouse actually *force* you to include keyboard/mouse?· Mr. Noodle
Good point about not using the keyboard/mouse inputs on the switching device. I was assuming not having them might make it cheaper but most likely it's too esoteric of a need. And the switcher you linked might do the job. I'll have to double-check my video card outputs.· Hey, it's CAJ! 1
Well, I figured this might happen. I had used my wife's Dell Ultrawide monitor awhile back with the work laptop and it was great. So, after trying to sort out all kinds of switching, conversion and other random techie things, I think I've decided to get a monitor like the one she has (Dell U3415W). Or (more likely), I'll get here the updated version (U3417W and take hers.· Hey, it's CAJ!
What I actually want is this expensive beast but...expensive. http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-ultrasharp-38-curved-monitor-u3818dw/apd/210-amrc/· Hey, it's CAJ!
