Welcome to our irregular "Did you know?" column. First, you can mention somebody, adding at-sign to their username: @alice. This also works for groups: @support. Also, this handles punctuation, as you can see, so you can freely add dots, commas, exclamation signs etc. Second, when you want to reply to somebody's comment, you can click on "comment cloud" icon and their name will be added to the beginning of the text area. You can then click more comment clouds, and their username will be added, too. This will be particularly useful when mentions will be implemented.
Will be really useful, thank you very much. ‎· hülüsi çiçek
Third, Mokum has amazing support for URLs in your text. You only have to begin the URL with http:// or https://, (haha, and here is the bug, let me fix it...), simple links like disney.com don't work (but http://disney.com/ works). You can also freely add punctuation, basically treating URLs as words: (e.g., you see how this list works: http://lwn.net/, https://slashdot.org and https://arxiv.org). You don't need to add spaces between URLs and commas, which some of you do — everything is handled in a smart way. If you're really interested, here is the list of all cases we handle: https://mokum.place/squadette/4120 (the discussion is in Russian, but the URLs are not). International domain names and URLs are handled too: https://fa.wikipedia.org/wiki/موکوم and http://♫.ws/ ‎· псы в рапиде
Fourth, there is a special support for subreddits, you can just say /r/AskReddit and it will become a link automatically. ‎· псы в рапиде
Fifth, hashtags are also handled in a smart way — you can add most of the punctuation around the tags and it will work. This is more complicated, and there are probably some corner cases — please report those and we'll try to improve. E.g.: (#mokum-dev). ‎· псы в рапиде
All of this beauty is handled by our open source Ruby solution, maintained by @zverok: https://github.com/zverok/linkhum. You can use it freely under MIT license, and create your own implementations based on extensive test suite we've gathered. ‎· псы в рапиде
Nice but above all, a mention notifier will higly appreciated ‎· serdar, ben
This is pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing. Just to be clear, though; at the moment, these mentions don't show up anywhere, right? For instance, if I mention somebody in a comment, it doesn't automatically add the thread to their "My discussions" feed or anything, does it? ‎· Mr. Noodle
nope, not yet. but if you egosearch yourself you will find your mentions in the results. ‎· inconsolabilmente Lucretia
Update: you can now use xkcd:1110 syntax and it will link automatically. ‎· псы в рапиде
