I finally hired someone who knows who @LibSkrat is. My work here is done.
I don't think I've mentioned this here, but the X household has grown by one: We have combined households with my mom. We built an addition on to my house so she'd have a room of her own, and we've all been camped out at her house during construction. Yesterday, Granna X, #pdog, and I all moved back home along with all four cats.

Electronic sign on 270 in MD today. I'm told this is legit.
It was a fake. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bal-viral-image-of-consider-canada-highway-sign-a-hoax-sha-says-20170120-story.html· Bill Mason
I have just convinced my library to number the Chronicles of Narnia in publication order. My work here is done.
I don't burnt out on librarianship, but I do feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff on my desk.
I was thinking of the actual Denzel Washington clip when I posted the above. Something about laura's imagined cadence in my head made me think of it.· MoTO Babycakes 1
Well, I do love me some Malcolm, so that brightened my day.· laura x 1
When I retire, I am never scheduling people ever again.
I have to pick a ceiling fan and I hate my hair. What petty problems do you have?
#pdog and I were there. You can see his little Love Trumps Hate sign in a few shots. This is what Democracy looks like. A peaceful protest against hate and discrimination. "On November 15th, 2016, there was a massive peaceful protest organized by local high school students in order to battle the hatred and discrimination that has erupted…" https://vimeo.com/192010539
I will post this every election day (or near it) for as long as I live. The Psych Ward, Ten Years Out "A few days before Halloween in 1998 my mother hauled me out of the chair I’d been living in and into the car and into the hospital, where I signed a great many pieces of paper, including the …" http://newrambler.net/ramblings/back/109
#pdog got to try out the diggers today, y'all.
What's your favorite homonym or disambiguation? Ideally this would be encompassed in a pair of LC subject headings. [lazy web request for an essay I'm writing]
There's the classic China-the-country vs. china-the-dinnerware, but I can't say I've ever encountered that in the wild.· Catherine
okay, then LCSH does not have a term for kite-the-bird. best you can do is try for the subfamily in question; some of them (per Wikipedia) are there, some aren't.· LibSkrat
On Spotify and so so good. Billy Bragg’s Railroad Songs - The New Yorker "A new compilation of thirteen old and not-that-old railroad songs talks about America in a way that the Presidential candidates do not." http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/billy-braggs-railroad-songs
Here is the thread where you suggest crime fiction and regular fiction for my book discussion groups for next year.
this is when I admit I'm a librarian who had never been a part of a book discussion group until last year (we did a fun faculty one with about half librarians and half English faculty last spring), and who generally doesn't probably read what should be picked for such groups either... (It's not like I had avoided book groups, it just never worked out...)· YoungGeekyLibrarian
I find lately that I rather miss public speaking, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get back into it. #pdog curtails my ability to travel much, and I don't do tech stuff anymore, which is what I used to talk about. If I could work up my "how being an activist taught me to be a manager" schtick, do you think people would be interested?

I went to look up an Ani Difranco song on YouTube and got served an ad for the Republican presidential candidate.
Percival has a new best friend (aka my mom).
I've been shelving a cart a day at work lately (our shelver who worked 15-20 hours a week for 18 years died recently). It's especially useful when it's one of my collections, but it always makes me feel better regardless of what section I'm in.
