Dec. 20, 1996: Science Loses Its Most Visible Public Champion - http://www.wired.com/thisdayintech/2010/12/1220carl-sagan-dies/
All true, a great scientist and popularizer and all that. However, his "Cosmos" series is practically unwatchable now thanks to very cheesy special effects, slow tempo, and his "dramatic" voice-over, which must've been dramatic in the day but is merely sonorous and pompous now. Looks like with the advancements like BBC's "Earth" the art of popular science skyrocketed, pardon the pun. ‎- Valera Fooksman
