We've been coming to this park for the last few years and this is the first time I've seen this crane/stork/heron(?) here. I guess that's a good sign?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. =) I've always wondered what they were since I also see a few in the wetlands around Secaucus near the Turnpike.
The wetlands around there are pretty good for birding, especially herons, but also shorebirds and waterfowl, despite the industrial look.
