Wildwood isn't exactly "white-bread." Maybe Wildwood Crest (though even that has the exotically-named Waikiki hotel), but not Wildwood. Since it has one of the few free public beaches in the state, it tends to attract people who don't want to pay for access badges elsewhere. Plus, unlike a lot of shore towns, it allows the sale of alcohol. All of which gives it a certain reputation for sketchiness, to the point that people in the towns around it try to avoid using "Wildwood" in describing where they live. ‎- John B.
