I get HTTP 429 when I try to share something from researchgate. Is that still a user-agent thing or it's because researchgate somehow blocks sharing the links?

Comment

HTTP status 429 means that there were too many requests to the service from Mokum server IP address in some time interval (say for an hour or a day), this is known as rate/load limiting. however the service might indicate blocking sharing in this way too

 ‎· хорошо блестят, удобно мазать
Comment

That's what I thought. YouTube has a limitation based on the user-agent. IIRC mokum had issues about that beforehand, but it's possible to get over it. In this specific case, I do not think that there may be too many shares from researchgate on mokum. It seems like a way of blocking in a meaningless fashion.

A bug in the post creation form.

Context: "new post" forms, home feed & own feed, Safari 14.0.3

Steps to reproduce:
1) open home feed or own feed;
2) form's main textarea must not be empty;
3) select _any_ group in "crosspost to" dropdown;
4) select the _same_ group in the first dropdown (one with "Your feed");
5) submit the form.

Expected behaviour:
A new post created in the group you've selected.

Observed behaviour:
Submitting of the post fails with "Mokum server error: Creating new post: HTTP 500"

Private subfeed's URL slug: numbers-only slug is valid (e.g., "1234"), but "http://mokum.place/ujin/1234" results in HTTP 404.

if you try to create a group with a name already in use, it's not giving any proper error message. Just console error... Maybe you want to add an error message.

modest feature proposal: a setting to select default level of privacy for new posts. i.e., mokum as a notepad — post "for your eyes only" by default, scheduled mental breakdown — private-only etc.

For the last couple of days I've not been able to upload pics from my phone (pixel 3A, Android 11 - I'm pretty sure I've uploaded fine since I updated to 11 but can't say that definitely. Chrome for the browser.)

Uploads do happen fine from desktop chrome on personal and work laptop.

Hi. I still can't upload iphone photos. When I paste or select a single picture, I get this: "Mokum server error: Waiting for attachments: Cannot process 3 images". I tried making it smaller; I tried emailing it to myself and then opening on Firefox on PC and doing a "take a screenshot"; I tried doing a PrtScrn and using that screenshot; I tried emailing to Outlook and using the downloaded photo; I tried opening it in Paint then resizing then Save As; I tried changing it to png. I still get the same error.

could you please try again.

Hi. Lately (past few weeks) I've been unable to upload iPhone photos. It just says "Cannot process 1 images." Now I'm having the same problem (same error message) with Firefox screenshots (Mac laptop). I used to be able to upload from both sources without any problem.

It seems like some of the feeds do not appear on the home feed when they are recently commented. In my case, it's a 4-month-old feed and previous "last comment" was on 4 Jul 2020. Does mokum have a category for feeds older than 3 months? In the specific case, the updated feed was moved to top on the feed owner's account but not on other users'.

Comment

No it doesn't. Actually it seems that there are bugs in some cases when newsfeed gets updated, and this sounds like it. At the moment it's not clear how to catch and debug those.

@squadette: Well, if it's not reproducible, then it's not a bug anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"Calendar order for entries" does not seem to be working. Home and 'everything' feeds both are still sorted by last comment after setting's tick had been set to 'calendar', 'update' pressed, and feed reloaded.

This feature only works for user/groups feeds.

@tmin: what's your use case?

 ‎· псы в рапиде
Comment

@squadette: not to miss the postings of my subscriptions even if they are not commented nor liked at all. Such postings sink among others discussed more recently. I can't see whether I have a chance to see them but to open each subscription individually. With the help of the wanted setting (not sure about specific one but I feel some ordering option is supposed to fix it) I hope to see such postings among others which are on the top being commented or liked by my subscriptions.

Is it possible to adopt https://smmry.com/ like autotldr.io Reddit summary bot to mokum? @squadette ?

Comment

I've never used both of them, what exactly is needed on the Mokum side?

 ‎· псы в рапиде
Comment

This is in fact not a need but can be considered a vanity feature. It would be great to have a summary as a comment, or a special div below post, in case the post is a single link and can be summarized to an extend. I think there is an api to at the smmry.com

Do you own the hacker news bot? If not how can we reach the author? If so can we have a link to the discussion as the first comment?

Comment

I do, but it's not "a hacker news bot", it's basically just auto-sharing tool, it is not aware of hackernews per se. It should be trivial to implement the proper hackenews integration, I can give away the username if needed. I created it to flesh out the bugs in Twitter import basically.

[EN] Mokum now can import Twitter (and many other services, actually) via https://ifttt.com. The major improvement comparing to previous API capabilities is that 1) the tokens are restricted in rights (only posting is allowed), so you do not have to use your all-powerful API tokens.

Comment

2) The token could be embedded directly in URL, which means that IFTTT could be used as is, without intermediate services like hook.io.
